THE FIRST 1,000 DAYS PROJECT

A First 1,000 Days Journey

From Conception

Until 2 years old

The First 1,000 Days is a period of development which begins from the time of conception until a child reaches 2 years of age. This period provides a crucial window of opportunity for promotion of optimal health, growth and neurodevelopment (UNICEF, 2013). Adequate healthcare, good nutrition, early learning and stimulation, quality childcare practices and a clean safe environment play an important role for the future of a child. These formative years establish a strong foundation for a child’s physical, mental and social health, giving them an opportunity to thrive and develop to their full potential.

Our initiative serves pregnant women and children (refugees or asylum seekers) from low-income households with no universal health coverage (UHC).
